HEIC to JPG

Convert HEIC photos from an iPhone or iPad to JPG that opens anywhere.

Drag and drop HEIC / HEIF files here

Accepts HEIC / HEIF · select several at once · up to 50 MB each

Your images are converted on this device and are never uploaded.

JPG cannot store transparency, so transparent areas are filled with white.

How to use HEIC to JPG

  1. Choose HEIC / HEIF files, or drag them onto the drop area. Each file is checked by its real contents, not just its name.
  2. Adjust the quality if the output is JPG, otherwise leave the defaults.
  3. Press Convert to JPG. Conversion happens in your browser and each result is verified before it is offered.
  4. Check the preview and the before and after file sizes, and read any notes.
  5. Download each file, or take several at once as a ZIP.

About this tool

HEIC is the default photo format on recent iPhones. It is efficient, but Windows, many websites and older apps cannot open it. This tool decodes the HEIC file and saves it as a standard JPG.

Safari decodes HEIC natively. In other browsers a WebAssembly decoder (heic2any, built on libheif) is downloaded only when you choose a HEIC file, about 1.3 MB, so other pages stay light. The first conversion may take a few seconds on large photos.

Formats and browser compatibility

Accepted input: HEIC / HEIF.

Works in current Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari. Decoding runs on your device and large photos can take several seconds and a fair amount of memory on phones.

Some HEIF variants (certain HDR, depth or burst images and some Live Photo containers) may not decode. The tool will report that clearly instead of producing a broken file. Only the main still image is converted; depth maps and video parts are ignored, and metadata is not copied.

Practical uses

  • Send iPhone photos to someone using Windows or an older phone.
  • Upload HEIC photos to a site that only accepts JPG.
  • Free up compatibility for printing at a photo kiosk.

Tips for better results

  • You can also set an iPhone to capture as Most Compatible (JPG) in Camera settings.
  • Convert in smaller batches on a phone to avoid running out of memory.
  • Use quality 90% or higher for photos you may print.

Frequently asked questions

Are my photos uploaded?

No. Decoding and conversion run entirely in your browser. Only the decoder code is downloaded, never your pictures.

Why did my HEIC file fail to convert?

The file may be corrupt, protected or a HEIF variant the decoder does not support. Try exporting the photo again from your phone as a JPG or opening it in Photos first.

Does it work in every browser?

It works in current Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari. Very old browsers without WebAssembly are not supported.

Are my files uploaded anywhere?

No. Everything is processed in your browser on your own device. Nothing is sent to Paul Digital or any other server.
