How to use the UPSC Signature Resizer

  1. Sign three times, one below the other, in black ink on plain white paper with a gap between each. No lines or colours.
  2. Photograph or scan the sheet so that exactly three signatures are in the picture, straight and sharp.
  3. Choose it here. The size opens at 400 × 500 px with a 20 to 100 KB range.
  4. Crop so all three signatures are inside the frame, then press Create.
  5. Check the measured size, download the JPG, name it signature.jpg and upload it.

About this tool

UPSC's instructions say to sign three times, vertically and one below the other, on plain white paper in black ink, and to scan all three in a single image. The image must be clear and sharp, contain exactly three signatures, be properly oriented and have no lines or colours. It is saved as a JPG named signature.

The file size must be 20 KB to 100 KB and the image dimensions 350 to 500 pixels. The instruction does not say whether that applies to width, height or both, so this page opens at 400 × 500 px, which has both sides inside the range. A tall shape suits three stacked signatures.

If the file is over 100 KB, this tool lowers the JPG quality until it fits, and warns you if it cannot.

The 2026 UPSC notices repeat the three-signature rule in their Note 3 and point to the instruction page for the file details, so check that page when you apply.

UPSC: Instructions for uploading photo and signature (upsconline.nic.in) — checked 5 November 2026. What it says:

  • Photograph: a JPG file named photo, between 20 KB and 200 KB. The face must cover at least 75% (three quarters) of the photo, on a plain white background, with both ears visible.
  • Live photograph: capturing a live photograph is mandatory. It is matched with the uploaded photograph, and a mismatch stops the application.
  • Signature: sign three times, one below the other, on plain white paper in black ink, and scan all three in a single JPG named signature, 20 KB to 100 KB, with image dimensions of 350 to 500 pixels.
  • Not stated: a pixel size for the photograph.

Tips for better results

  • Leave a clear gap between the three signatures so they do not touch.
