About this tool

Text copied from a PDF, a scan or an email often has a line break at the end of every line. This tool joins the lines. A space is the usual choice, since it keeps words apart. “Nothing” joins lines directly, which suits lists of numbers or codes.

The paragraph option replaces single line breaks with spaces but keeps blank lines, so paragraph breaks stay. Windows, Mac and Linux line breaks are all handled.

Examples

  • “a↵b↵c” with a space becomes “a b c”.
  • Two paragraphs with one break each keep their paragraph break: “a b ¶ c d”.

Tips

  • Use “keep paragraphs” for articles so the structure survives.
  • A hyphen at the end of a line stays; remove it yourself if a word was split.
