About this tool

This converter writes any whole number up to 36 digits in English words, and reads a decimal part digit by digit, so 12.34 becomes twelve point three four.

The Indian system groups digits as thousand, lakh and crore; the international system uses thousand, million and billion. The same figure has different groupings in each, so pick the one your document uses. Letters can be Title Case, lower case or UPPER CASE.

Examples

  • 1234567 reads “one million two hundred thirty-four thousand five hundred sixty-seven” in the international system.
  • The same number reads “twelve lakh thirty-four thousand five hundred sixty-seven” in the Indian system.
  • 105 reads “one hundred and five” with the British “and”.

Tips

  • Commas, spaces and a decimal point are fine, so you can paste a figure straight from a sheet.
  • Switch the letter style to match your form: Title Case, lower case or UPPER CASE.
  • Numbers in Bangla or Hindi digits are understood too.
