How to convert JPEG to PDF
- Choose one or more JPEG files, or drag them onto the drop area. Only .jpg and .jpeg files are accepted.
- Check the order of the list. Use the arrows to reorder pages and Remove to take out any image you do not want.
- Confirm the target size (currently 200 KB). It is editable, so change the number or the KB/MB unit if your limit differs, and pick a page size.
- Press Create PDF. Your images are embedded as they are when that already fits; otherwise they are recompressed gradually and the PDF is measured after each attempt.
- Read the result: the actual PDF size is shown with a clear Target met or Target not met message. Then download the PDF.
What a 200 KB PDF limit means
Two hundred kilobytes is a frequent attachment cap on government, school and recruitment portals. It leaves room for a few clean pages of scanned text or one good photograph. Both .jpg and .jpeg files are the same format, so either extension works. The converter embeds the JPEG data directly when it can, falls back to gentle re-encoding only if the PDF is too big, and states plainly when 200 KB cannot be reached with images that are still legible.
The size you enter is a goal, not a promise. A PDF made from JPEG images is almost entirely the size of those images, so the result depends on how many images you add, their resolution and how detailed they are. This tool measures the finished file and reports the true byte count instead of assuming success.
Format and page settings
Accepted input: JPEG images (.jpg and .jpeg are the same format). Each image becomes one page, in the order shown in the list. Choose A4 or US Letter to fit each image on a page with a small margin, with portrait or landscape chosen automatically, or choose “Match image shape” for pages that follow each image's proportions. Images are never stretched or cropped. PNG, WebP, HEIC and other formats are not accepted here.
When the untouched JPEGs already fit the target, they are embedded without recompression. Otherwise quality is lowered in steps (not below about 50 percent) and dimensions are reduced only as far as roughly 800 px on the long side. Photos stored with an EXIF rotation flag are re-encoded upright, since PDF viewers ignore that flag.
Practical uses
- Multi-page application documents with a 200 KB total
- Marksheets, certificates and receipts photographed with a phone
- Short JPEG scans that need to become one tidy PDF for email
Tips for a smaller PDF
- Scan at 150–200 DPI rather than 600; text stays sharp and files stay small.
- Remove blank or duplicate pages with the Remove button before converting.
- Greyscale scans usually give smaller files than colour ones.
Frequently asked questions
How do I convert a JPEG to a PDF under 200 KB?
Add your JPEG files, keep or edit the 200 KB target, and press Create PDF. The tool builds the PDF in your browser and tells you the real size so you can see whether it is under 200 KB.
Is a .jpeg file different from a .jpg file?
No. JPEG and JPG are the same format; the shorter extension dates from older systems. This tool accepts both.
Are my images uploaded anywhere?
No. Files are read and the PDF is generated entirely on your device. Nothing is sent to Paul Digital or any other server.
Can it guarantee the PDF will be under the limit?
No. The size depends on your images. The tool embeds JPEGs unchanged when possible, then lowers quality and dimensions only down to a readable floor. If that is not enough it reports the actual size and says the target was not met.
Can I combine several images into one PDF?
Yes. Select multiple files, reorder them with the arrows, remove any you do not need, and each image becomes one page in that order.
Is the PDF a normal, standards-compliant file?
Yes. It is a standard PDF 1.4 file with each JPEG embedded as an image on its own page. Nothing is truncated or padded to hit a number.
