About this tool

Each hexadecimal digit becomes exactly four binary digits, so conversion is digit by digit. For 2F: 2 is 0010 and F is 1111, which gives 0010 1111.

Leading zeros in the first group do not change the value.

Formula

  • Replace each hex digit with its four-bit pattern: 0=0000, 1=0001 … 9=1001, A=1010 … F=1111.

Examples

  • Hexadecimal A = 1010 (binary)
  • Hexadecimal 2F = 0010 1111 (binary)
  • Hexadecimal FF = 1111 1111 (binary)
  • Hexadecimal 1A3 = 0001 1010 0011 (binary)

Tips

  • To see the value in decimal as well, look at the table under the result.
  • Very long numbers are handled exactly, up to 200 digits.
  • Negative numbers are accepted with a minus sign.
